My work is purely decorative and is inspired by the colours and patterns of India. I set semi precious stones, such as turquoise, malachite. lapiz lazula and mother of pearl into the rims or centres of my platters. Many of them are coloured and some wire brushed, as I feel that texture and colour enhance the beauty of the stones, and bring out their wonderful colours. Some of my bowls are also pierce-carved and painted in vivid colours.
I mostly use ash because of the wonderful grain, but I also work in yew, Australian burrs and some exotic woods.
I am a member of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain, the American Association of Woodturners and the Essex Craft Society.
