Working with wood is something I have enjoyed since I was quite young. At art school I experienced working with many mediums and materials but wood just kept taking me in, so I got on with it. This is when I started laminating….and turning. I left art school in 1985 with a BA Hons degree in wood, metal & plastics. In 1989 with a grant from the Princes Youth Business Trust I set up workshop as a designer/maker in wood.
My speciality is my laminated wood with which I make a range of one off contemporary and mainly functional objects including: bowls, pots, boxes and walking sticks. I make cutlery and letter opener handles as well as other functional items, in small batches. My inspiration comes from architecture, linear structures and natural forms.
My work is regularly exhibited, I am a Registered Professional Turner. Most recently I won a bursary award from the Worshipful Company of Turners. These unique, unusual, laminated, turned objects are available to order and by commission
