I am a bowl turner. I turn Big ones, Small ones, Chunky bowls, Delicate bowls.
I turn simple bowls, decorative bowls, segmented bowls and pierce-carved platters and bowls.
Some of my bowls are turned from a lump of wood and when finished weigh 5 kilos. Some are tiny, 8 cm in dia, 5 cm tall and made up of ninety pieces. It would blow away in the wind.
I usually turn the larger items from beautiful native timbers: Ash, Elm, Walnut, Poplar and Sycamore. The complex small designs usually use exotic timbers from South America, Australia or Africa.
I am a member of the Association of Woodturners of Great Britain, the American Association of Woodturners and the Essex Craft Society.
