Susan is established as a stoneware potter in Cambridge and exhibits regularly in the region and elsewhere. All her pots are thrown on the wheel, which she likes as a piece of ancient technology linking us back to our early potting forbears. Although much of her work revolves around the production of vessels for domestic use, she also likes to experiment with form, at present creating tilted or slanted shapes with the vertical shifted off mid-centre. The emphasis is hence on form, decoration being a distraction.

Her glazes aim for a simple, restful effect, with much use of wood ash to create muted smoky hues. Firing at a high stoneware temperature gives subtlety and depth of colour.
